The following information will help you when using a Google GSuite member account. These instructions are similar to those for Gmail, but you first need to verify that the settings are correct in the GSuite admin console as those settings affect all member email accounts under your control.

There are two options for configuring GSuite:

Recommended Option: Using 2 Factor Authentication & App Passwords

Following these instructions will create a Google App Password which will you will then use as a secure password when setting up the Email settings to user your account.

💡 App passwords allow you to share access to your Account without sharing your master password. This has the advantage of allowing you to later revoke any shared access without having to change your master account password. It is strongly advised to follow a method such as this when granting access.

  1. Enable 2-Step Verification and generate an App Pass for use in the console.

    1. Go to your Google Account Security page.

💡 NOTE: Make sure that you are logged in under whatever Google account you will be using for Email. If you accidentally configure this under your personal email account, the App Pass you generate will not work in the console. E.g. if you are going to configure sending email from help@mydomain.com, be sure you log into the Account Security page as help@mydomain.com.

    2. Make sure that 2-Step Verification is enabled for your account. If it is not currently enabled, enable it now as 2-Step Verification is required in order to use App passwords.

    3. Select App passwords to begin the process of creating a new app password which can then be saved into your white label settings in the console.

In the fields shown, select Mail and Other (Custom Name) and then give it a name such as “IoT Console Email“.

    4. Click on Generate and a popup will appear showing you the 16 digit password that you should use in settings to access your Email.

💡 NOTE: Be sure to make note of the password before you close this dialog. It will not be shown to you again.
