How to disable the Cradlepoint broadcast WiFi AP

The following instructions will help you to hide the default broadcast WiFi AP created by the Cradlepoint router during operation.

  1. Connect to the IBR200-xyz AP with using a laptop or desktop PC/Mac wireless connection.
Note: The xyz part of the AP name will be different for each device — this can be found on the bottom of each Cradlepoint labeled SSID. If a password is requested, use the Default Password also listed on the bottom of the Cradlepoint device.

  2. Once connected to the AP, open a browser and go to http://192.168.0.1/

  3. Login in the highlighted area with username admin and use the Default Password from the label on the bottom of the Cradlepoint device.

  4. You’ll get a screen that looks like the following. Click on Start NetCloud OS link such as highlighted:

  5. On the left sidebar, go to Networking > Local Networks > Wireless (WiFi) Settings. It will take you to a screen that looks like this:

  6. Check the box next to IBR200-xyz (labeled above). Then click the Edit button (labeled above).

  7. On the popup that appears, check the box for Hidden, then click Save.

  8. You’ll get a confirmation that the settings were saved OK, and on return to the Wireless (WiFi) Settings screen, you’ll see that Hidden is now set to Yes for this AP:

  9. Logout (the door icon in the top right) and power cycle the Cradlepoint by unplugging it, waiting 10 seconds, then re-plugging it in. After doing this, you should no longer see the IBR200-xyz network as a WiFi option anymore.

Please note that you’ll need to repeat the above steps for each Cradlepoint you have.
