Console: Manage devices

How to use manage hardware using the Console, including day to day tasks for supporting end-users from the Device Registry screen.

Device Lookup using the Registry

The Device Registry screen makes finding devices easy. Enter in device information to narrow the list of devices until you locate the device you want to manage.

Tip: The easiest way to locate the correct device is to have the Hardware ID (the string of numbers shown next to the QR Code on the device itself). However, you can manually search through the list, using the other fields (such as filter by Status) to narrow the results.

Viewing devices for a given user

You can also use the Customers screen to locate devices tied to a specific user’s account. After looking up the user (e.g. by their Email address), click on the arrow buttons to expand the list of Locations and then devices for that user.

Note: Only active devices are shown from the Customers screen. If you need to find devices by other status (e.g. deactivated/Pending), use the Registry screen instead.

Deactivating Devices

After locating a device, you can easily deactivate it by clicking on the Deactivate Device button shown next to the entry. After clicking on this button, be sure to confirm the action.

Note: After deactivating the device, the status of the device will switch to Pending. The device is then freed up to be used again by the user (or a new user).

  • Paired Status: indicates that the device has been added to a customer’s account. After the customer uses the product and adds the device, the device will enter this state.
If a customer contacts you about a device and it is in the Paired status, but the device isn’t working, try resetting the device and making sure that it is in range of an appropriate LoRa gateway configured for the product.

  • Pending Status: indicates that the device has not yet been added to any customer’s account.
If a customer contacts you about a device and it is in the Pending status, this indicates that the next step is to have the customer use your product and add the device into their account. After they have successfully done so, you will see Paired status in the console.
