Console: Manage Devices with LNS
This section will help you in how to use our existing IoT Console to make sure your Azure gateway or sensor is available for use in an account.
Determine if a device is using Azure or TTN
Currently you must look up the device in the Azure LNS in order to know whether or not it is registered with Azure. You cannot rely upon any Console data to tell you for certain - we have too much out of date device information in the console to be certain.
Register New Devices to the LNS
Registering a new device to the Azure environment from the IoT Console is done similarly to as with TTN. Below you will find tips specific to Azure + LNS usage:
Note: The information shown here is for registering individual devices (so an existing piece of hardware can be added to an account). If you want help with adding support for an entirely new hardware model check out how to do this in the LNS.
Go to the Device Registry tab in the IoT Console.
Select the Upload Devices button.
Select the appropriate Device Type.
Select the CSIO (US) Network Server.
Note: At some point in the future we may support additional servers, such as the CSIO (FR) server for European usage. If the device has never been registered on Azure, be sure to select the Register option and enter the LNS Application and LNS Device Profile IDs. Be sure to click on the Test button to verify what you’ve entered is OK.
The LNS Application is the environment to which you want to register. Usually this is 5 for our mydevices-live (which includes both Staging & Production) for IoT in a Box.
The LNS Device Profile should point to which device model hardware profile to use, as defined on the LNS.
Refer to Find Application ID or Device Profile IDs as needed for help with what to put in these fields.
The remainder of the register process is the same as it currently is - complete adding your device normally, including any required LoRa information prompted for registration.
Moving OLD Devices from TTN to Azure
Existing devices which are already being used with TTN can be moved to Azure. This process must be done manually and for each individual device.
Go to the Device Registry tab in the IoT Console.
Use the search fields to locate the device you are moving and select View Registry.
Make note of the AppEUI and AppKey values for this device. You will need these when registering on LNS.
If your device has already been removed from both TTN and the Console, you will have to ask Operations for the information, or have a team member look it up in our backend database.
Deactivate your device from any active accounts.
Follow the Network Server Console link in the console to open this device in TTN.
Delete the device out of TTN.
As an alternative, you could keep it in TTN, but move it to another Application.Back in our Console, remove the device from the registry.
Add the device to the Registry and register it with LNS. When you are asked for the OTAA registration details, be sure to input the values obtained earlier.
Follow the device instructions to reset/pair the device with your Azure Gateway.
It should now be available and with Last Seen data in the LNS.
